Should You Homeschool Your Children?
Updated: Aug 31
What do you imagine when you think of homeschooling?
I mean, when you think of YOU homeschooling your kids?
Thoughts of how difficult it would be to manage child A's behaviour? Or child B's lack of attention? How are you going to teach Math to Jonny who cannot count and English to Daisy who is dyslexic? How will you keep up with the housework and other priorities?

Is it feelings of inability to teach them or concern about how you will manage having them with you ALL. THE. TIME? Do you imagine that it will be hard and unpleasant to try to teach your kids? Is it fear? Anxiety? Stress?
"Homeschooling" is a deceptive term... you may not be at home much at all, and it's usually nothing like regular school. What homeschooling really is, is impossible to describe in a single phrase.

It's having the time to really get to know your child.

What a blessing to spend their precious childhood years with them!

It's your child having the freedom to really know themselves and focus on what they are good at and love to do. It's the joy of seeing them excel in their God-given giftings!

It's the blessing of having the time to really disciple your children and teach them God's word and God's ways.

It's having the freedom to do things during the week that you would normally only have the time to do on the weekend.
It encourages genuine family connection and bonding.

And so much more!
It's life, learning and growing together as a family and as individuals.
Yes, you can do it!
(Yes, there will be struggles!)
Yes, it will be worth it!
The only question is, "Should You Homeschool Your Children?" I can think of no reasons not to, except if God says, "No." There can be many things that would make it hard, challenging or seemingly impossible, but if it is God's will, He can make a way.
Homeschooling may not be for everybody, but don't assume that it's not for you just because of your fears or what you think you lack.
Should you homeschool your children? That's not up to anyone else. Pray about it. Seek God regarding whether this is the right thing for your family.
For us, it has been a blessing, but if God has not put this in your heart I would suggest still asking Him if it is His will. Maybe it is not for you; then may God bless you and help you as you seek to disciple and lead your children in His ways.
If He prompts you to go ahead, then go ahead with confidence. Do not fear! Do not worry! Take one day at a time, seeking Him as you go!

Blessings to you and your family.
